Picked up a Sterling Ensemble 60x30 left drain shower base/ receptor.
The base is made of Vikrell and has a molded in support lattice that doesn't require it to be set in mortar.
2 part pvc fiberglass shower base drain assembly.
The lower section will take a 2" pvc pipe and will be joined to the P trap. Once the shower base is in place the top section screws to the bottom
The drain will already be glued to the P trap when the base is set in place. The drain will line up with the drain hole in the base.
The drain projects below the level of the base 2-1/2". The ruler should have been on the bottom of the little radial nubs molded into the flange. These nubs rest on the floor. When I rough in the drain I'm going to need to know how far down into the floor the drain extends so I can cut the pipe coming up out of the P trap the correct length.
A length, yet to be determined of 2" PVC pipe will join the under the floor P trap to the drain.
The branch drain in the crawlspace to the shower is 1-1/2". Since I'm using a 2" shower drain and P trap I have to glue a 1-1/2 to 2" reducing coupling to the existing drain. After making sure the joints are clean I put primer on both parts I'm joining.
After the primer I put PVC cement on both parts.
I push the parts together and twist them. It's nice to be able to work through the hole in the floor to the drain below.
Locating the center of the shower base drain as offsets from the wall.
Cut out for the shower base drain.
Screw the drain into the shower base. Put the shower base in position. Make sure it's perfectly flat.
Go in the crawlspace under the drain and piece the P trap and custom cut joining pipes together so they align with the shower base drain. Glue them using primer and pvc glue.
Unscrew the drain.
Remove the shower base and this is what you see.
This is what the P trap assembly looks like.
Cut a hole in the pad for the drain. Make sure you put the lower gasket on the flange. I put a few dabs of glue on the sides to keep it in place while I lower the shower base down.
Once the base is down place the 2nd gasket into the base and screw the drain down tight.
Final check for level.
Testing the drain for leaks. I went underneith into the crawlspace to check.
