Install the toilet This is an American Standard Champion 4 Max 615356 extended bowl toilet.
Install the toilet Clean up the flange. I had to cut the flange to remove the old anchor bolts. The toilet flange extension is sitting on the upper left.
Install the toilet The new floor is 3/4 higher than the previous one. The correct height for the flange is to have it's bottom sitting on top of the floor. I used a flange shim underneith a toilet flange extension to get to the proper height. If you don't do this the toilet will not seal to the floor and you will get sewer gas in the house.
Install the toilet I drove 3 new wood screws through the shim and flanges into the wood sub floor. This has to be secure because this is what holds the toilet to the floor.
Install the toilet I slid the T bolts into the slots in the flange at the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock positions. This Champion toilet came with retainer nuts which is a great feature. It keeps the bolts sticking straight up when you lower the toilet onto the flange.
Install the toilet Push the wax ring seal onto the ring on the bottom of the bowl with the black plastic flange pointing out. Remove any wax from the inside of the flange.
Install the toilet Install the toilet Pick the bowl up and suspend it between your legs and position yourself over the flange. Line up the bowl so the T bolts stick through the holes in the toilet base. Lower the bowl onto the flange and push it down to the floor making sure the bowl is pointing straight. You will feel the wax squish. Run the nuts down the T bolts and snug them. Don't over tighten or you can break the bowl.
Install the toilet I put the tank seal over the plastic fitting which was pre installed in the tank. Push the tank mounting bolts out to their full length.
Install the toilet Push the tank mounting bolts out to their full length.
Install the toilet Place the tank on the bowl making sure the seal and the mounting screws line up with the toilet base.
Install the toilet Using a plastic washer and a nut tighten the tank to the bowl with the supplied nut driver tool. Alternately tighten each side until the china tank contacts the china bowl.
Install the toilet I used a 5/8 open end wrench to attach a 14" toilet supply line to the tank. Screw the tank side in by hand. Don't over tighten it or it will leak.
Install the toilet Turn the water on and the tank and bowl will fill to the line in the tank. If it doesn't adjust the level with the screw on the float. If the toilet rocks on the floor because the tile isn't perfectly flat you can caulk around the bottom edge of the bowl. Your new toilet is now operational.
Install the toilet Bolt on the seat and place the top on the tank and you're done.
