The new door frame I cleaned the rough opening up. I'm checking how the new door frame fits.

Guest Bedroom Exterior Door Inside the rough opening I used some 3/4" blocks to shim the sides of the rough opening. The door frame is held to the house by running long screws through the inside of the frame through the shim blocks into the 2x4 in the wall.

Hanging the Door Once you hang the door you'll find out if you put the door frame in plumb. The door has to close flat against the frame and the weather seal.

Guest Bedroom Exterior Door Caulk the bottom of the threshold with silicone to weatherproof it. You can't paint pure silicone so only use it where you are not going to paint.

Install the Door Locks Use a chisel to mortise out the dead bolt and passage lock.
